Free Writing Prompts and Projects for Kids

Free Writing Prompts for Kids

Finding fun and engaging writing prompts and projects for kids is easy with the freebies I have on the blog! I love creating writing prompt and craft activity bundles for students. I have found that once you teach students the format of these writing projects, you can easily implement them for independent writing stations!

On the blog today, I have a “How to Make an Ice Cream Sundae” FREE writing prompt and project for your students! This narrative writing project is great for first and second grade students.

How to Make an Ice Cream Sundae Writing Prompt

Narrative Writing Project for Kids

All of my “How-To” Narrative Writing Prompts and Projects are full of brainstorming, rough draft, and final draft templates! Students will begin their writing project by determining what they already know about making an ice cream sundae. They will list ingredients and steps that they need to take to complete the task. I have included options for your students to write a First, Then, and Last narrative or a First, Next, Then, and Last narrative. Just decide if you want students to respond to this writing prompt with 3 steps or 4!

Once students have finished their final draft response to the writing prompt, they can decorate an adorable sundae! Imagine how cute these will be as hallway or bulletin board display along with their final copies!
