Classroom Management Should be FUN!
I have tried lots of different classroom management strategies in my classroom. The ones that do the best? The strategies that engage the students the most. I’m talking less rules, less 5-step plans to remember, and less apps. Let’s use strategies that are FUN, engaging, and foster student independence and relationships. This is why I have created a resource that will help you transform your reading and math small groups into a well-oiled machine of learning, independence, and growth!
I have created two sets of editable rotation slides. Each set includes over 60 slides that you can use with reading, math, centers, or anything else! Giving your small groups a theme is WAY more engaging than saying “group 1” or “group 2.” And we know that the more engagement you have, the less behavior problems you’ll be faced with. Students will love being in your “pancake group” or your “waffle group.”
Each set of slides has a unique theme. I have created a breakfast foods theme and a Mexican foods theme. Choose one theme for reading and one theme for math! I have been using this classroom management strategy for years!
The first year I used this strategy in my classroom, I had farm animal reading groups. I printed off some black and white clip art from Google, colored it in, taped it to some bins, and that was it. It looked a little rough, but my students loved their animal groups! That’s why I have taken the time to create some simple and easy to use sets of themed rotation slides, complete with everything you need to run your small groups smoothly!
How to Use Center Rotation Slides
My center rotation slides are easy to use and simple to get set up! Once you have all the data you need to place your students into groups, choose one theme for reading and one theme for math. Decide if you want to use rotations slides or a rotation chart.
For rotation slides, you will type student names and the center that they are supposed to be at during that rotation. After the rotation, you will switch the slide to the next one, telling students where they move to next. If you have four rotations, you’ll have four slides.
For the rotation chart, you will not have to change slides during your small groups. Use the 32 included station icons to create a chart for students to follow. Leave the chart displayed on your smart board during your small group rotations. The rotation charts are so easy to create. Just copy and paste the images you want right into the chart. They are already sized perfectly to fit. It will take you less than 5 minutes! Each set of slides includes the option to use in PPT and Google Slides!
My rotation slides include options for 3, 4, and 5 small groups. Your students are going to love being in a themed group! This set of slides is going to take your classroom management and your small group engagement to the next level!
